Winterize Your Car

Tips for Winterizing Your Car

We hate to look forward to the winter weather that is coming to Chicago, but it is important to make sure you and your car are ready for the harsh weather. Don’t expect your car to run all winter without issues if you don’t properly prepare it.

Check Your Fluids
  • Check your oil, the temperature changes can cause the thickness to change which can greatly affect your engine.
  • Engine Coolant/Antifreeze is important to making sure your car is running at top form so make sure you ratios are correct
Beware of Low Visibility
  • Obviously making sure you have quality windshield wipers is important to ensure you can keep the snow, sleet and ice off your windshield
  •  Don’t forget to make sure your wiper fluid is filled up as sleet and the dirty road snow that is kicked up by other cars can really hurt visibility
  •  Make sure your headlamps bulbs are bright and always cleared before driving through a snow storm.
Be sure to have an emergency kit packed, for more information on what you should include check out our emergency car kit post.
