Preventative Vehicle Maintenance

It’s always smart to make sure your car is in proper working condition to avoid major issues and expenses. This becomes even more important as the weather starts to turn, increasing the chances and severity of a car wreck.

Here are some simple steps that you should check regularly as many of these issues can go unnoticed and cause you to be involved in a much more serious situation.

·         Make sure the floor is free of any personal items, bags, coats, blankets, extra shoes. Objects can potentially slide under the break or onto the accelerator and cause an accidemt.

·         Inspect the seat belts to make sure the are working properly and in good shape. It’s important to check the passenger seatbelts that may not be used frequently to keep everyone in the car safe.

·         After starting the engine check all of the electrical to make sure that your lights, defroster, heat, and windshield wipers are working. Not noticing a light, turn signal, wipers, or defrost are working while on the road can be incredible dangerous. While having working heat is important in a case where your car does break down

·         Check your tires to make sure they are in good condition to allow for safe grip on the road and responsive driving.

·         Make sure you have a fully stocked emergency kit

These are just a couple of basic steps that can help keep you safe without taking much time out of your day. If you notice that your car has an issue that needs to be fixed call our expert staff (866) 738-1975 at West Loop Auto and get an estimate.
